For the opening ceremony the film "Ispansi" was chosen by Carlos Iglesias, and was presented by the director himself and the members of the film crew as well.
The film, the best epithet for which will be the word “hearty”, is based on the reminiscences of 37 children, who escaped in 1937 to the USSR from the horrors of the Civil War that unfolded in Spain. “Ispantsi” bring the audience back to the times of the Great Patriotic War, the film displays not only horrors of the military time, but the destinies of 3,000 children, who got from one nightmare into another. Despite of its tragic content the film is made with great heart, with enormous love and care for Russia.
“I liked the film – hot social issues are touched upon in it: hunger, need. Peculiarities of the communication between the Spanish and the Russians are being shown as well. But, to be honest, I didn’t quite like the episode with a pendent. I think that a Russian woman was shown to be too opportunistic. The film is rough, serious, but it is ‘a must’ to watch,” – Sergey Tikhonov expressed his impressions of the film “Ispantsi” on of the audience.
